

Dr. Dennis W. Lou passed away peacefully at home on 4-7-2012. His funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Church on 39 Walnut Street of Oneonta. Rev. David Mickiewicz will be the celebrant. The Mass is scheduled at 10:00 AM, on Saturday, April 21 of 2012.
Dennis was born on 10-6-1924 to a loving family with total 11 siblings in Canton of China. During Sino-Japanese war, at a young age of 16, he answered the calling voluntarily to defend his country. He was the youngest cadet at the Chinese Air Force Academy; was honored for his fighter pilot record.
After the war, he came to United States to pursue higher education. He received his PhD degree from Indiana University specialized in American History and American Foreign Diplomacy. In 1972, he was recognized by Intercontinental Biographical Association of United Kingdom and by The Two Thousand Men of Achievement in England. Furthermore, he was honored with more than 40 awards, including several Honorable PhD Degrees, from various countries for his academic research work and advices on economical policy.
After 13 years' distinguish professorship at SUCO here in Oneonta, Dennis devoted 30 years on China-America exchange programs of medical, industrial and academical expertise. Among his many contributions, Dennis assisted an American internet company entering China market in 1997; he sponsored many Chinese medical students to receive training in USA; the Albany Medical Center of New York was one of the training institutes. He promoted the models of American vocational school and technical college systems in China; thereafter, 36 of Chinese Provinces have adapted his recommendation to provide more educational opportunities for millions youngsters in China.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Jane, the devoted partner of 40 years, and his only child, the beloved son Hammond. Dennis shall be remembered fondly by many of his family members, friends and former students here in USA and China; one way or another, many lives have been touched by Dennis' kindness with ingenuous generosity.
