

He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 2, 1931, the son of Lawrence G. and Dorothy N. Morrison.
Don’s family moved to Franklin Lakes, N.J. when he was 13 years old.
Don attended Zion Bible Institute in East Providence, Rhode Island.
Don served in the US Army during the Korean War and received an Honorable Medical Discharge.
Don worked as a carpenter in N.J. after his discharge. He then went to Atlas Barbering School in New York City in 1958 and became a licensed barber. He owned his own shop in Franklin Lakes after completing his apprenticeship.
He married Shirley A. Rawlings on November 1, 1952 in East Paterson, N.J. Shirley predeceased him on May 28, 2023.
He moved with his family to South Worcester from Franklin Lakes, N.J. in June of 1968.
He was a member of First Summit Baptist Church in Charlotteville for 17 years where he was a trustee and choir director. He also attended Main Street Baptist Church for many years.
He went to cosmetology school in 1979 in Binghamton and received his cosmetology license.
He purchased Hollywood Barber Shop in 1982 and sold it in 1998.
He was a former member of the Masons for over 22 years and a member of the American Legion for over 36 years where he served as chaplain for many years.
He also owned and operated Don’s Barber Shop in South Worcester for many years.
He loved music, especially, gospel and played his keyboard and sang in five area nursing homes for 10 years after retiring.
He had many interests through the years, on being teaching shop to his 2 grandsons who were home schooled.
He enjoyed riding his A.T.V. through the woods on his property and knew the names of all the birds by their songs and knew the names of all the trees.
Don leaves behind his daughter, Melanie M. Hillis and son-in-law, Douglas H. Hillis of South Worcester; son, Clayton G. Morrison of South Worcester; granddaughter, Bethany & husband, Adam Ondrick and their children, Logan, Blake & twins, Zoe & Colton Ondrick, MA; grandson, Micah & wife, Janette and their children, Jaden, Mia & Nolan Hillis, NJ; grandson, Adam Morrison and his daughters, Serenity & Harmony Morrison, South Worcester. Also surviving his sisters, Dorla Hiemstra, Ruth Ann Struss and husband, David both of Franklin Lakes, N.J.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024 in the Main Street Baptist Church, 333 Main Street, Oneonta from 11:00am to 12:00 PM. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12:00 PM with the Rev. Phil Livermore officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Shirley’s memory to the Main Street Baptist Church, 333 Main Street, Oneonta, NY 13820.
