
Betty was born in Astoria, Queens on June 9, 1936 the daughter of James and Elizabeth (Pardy) Coghlan. She married John M. Crean on April 21, 1956, and he predeceased her on May 28, 2010, following 54 years of marriage.
As a child, she spent summers swimming at Rockaway Beach with her parents and her brother. In high school, she loved to dance the Lindy.
Betty worked as a secretary for the New York City Police Chaplain.
She was a very devout Catholic, and always had many friends and a smile for everyone.
She is survived by her children, Michael, William, and Daniel Crean, and Jacqueline Vitacco; 12 grandchildren; a brother, James Coghlan; her daughter’s-in-law, Debra, Diana, and MaryAnn Crean, and a son-in-law, William Vitacco.
A funeral mass will be offered on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 10:15 AM in St. Mary’s Church, 39 Walnut St., Oneonta with the Rev. Scott VanDerveer, parochial vicar, officiating.
Inurnment will be later in Mt. Calvary Columbarium Crypt.
Friends may call on Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta, NY from 6 to 8 PM at which time the family will be in attendance.
