He was born April 29, 1935 in Bronx, NY to Harry and Rose Perlmutter, one of nine siblings
Herman was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during the Korean War. After his discharge, while working in Coney Island, NY he met the love of his life Angeline. After a brief courtship they were married January 26, 1957.
Herman spent his entire working career on Wall Street as head cashier for several brokerage firms. During those years together they saw the birth of their three children and the purchase of their first home in Staten Island, NY. The Staten Island home was frequented often by several members of both Herman and Angie's families.
After retirement, Herman & Angie moved to Oneonta, NY to be nearer their daughter Lori and to enjoy the beautiful mountains and a tranquil life of a small town.
Herman was a real character. He could walk into a room and end up being the life of the party. He was a very funny and generous person and always had a great story to tell. He loved to read, especially WW 2 books. He loved his family, his wife's cooking and the New York Mets, Jets and Rangers.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Angie (Sgromo); his 3 children, Greg (Katie), Scott (Trish) and Lori Falco; 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; his brother Phillip; sisters, Natalie (Phil), and Denise (Joel); sister in law, Pearl Perlmutter; and many nieces and Nephews.
The family will have a celebration of Herman's life sometime in the spring of 2022
Arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta.
