With profound love and deep sadness, we announce the passing of Jacquelyn “Jackie” Roberta Wright, a cherished wife, mother, sister, nana, and friend. Jackie left this world on November 28, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 77 years old.
Born on March 30, 1948, in Ithaca, New York, to Robert and Margaret Amadon, Jackie grew up with a warm and generous spirit that would become the cornerstone of her life. She attended Charlotte Valley Central School, where she formed lasting friendships and began nurturing the kindness and compassion that defined her.
After high school, Jackie became a certified beautician, beginning her professional life helping others feel their best. She later followed a new calling in the medical field, working as a dedicated medical secretary for Bassett Hospital and Oneonta Job Corps. Her commitment to service and her gentle way with people made her an invaluable presence wherever she worked. Jackie also devoted many years to her own Greenhousing business and family’s business, Bob’s Greenhouses, contributing to her hardworking nature and her love for growing and nurturing.
But beyond all her accomplishments, it was her family and the people she loved who brought Jackie her greatest joy. She was the wife of Mark Wright-Married April 14, 1973, with whom she shared a lifetime of partnership. She was the proud and loving mother of Jennifer Wright Henderson and Jeromy (Elizabeth) Wright, and the adoring “Nana” to Johnna Henderson, Jayslin Henderson, Cooper Wright, and Brinlee Wright, who were truly the light of her life.
Jackie was a beloved sister to Bruce (Pam) Amadon and Deb Meyer, and she is predeceased by her brother Doug (Mary) Amadon.
Jackie was a woman who embraced life with an open heart. She loved to make memories with her family, especially her treasured annual trips to Long Lake, where she found peace watching the loons and endless joy laughing with her granddaughters, Johnna and Jayslin. Watching updated pictures on her Skylight was another way she loved to watch her family shine. The simplest moments, stories shared on a porch, a quiet morning by the water, a grandchild’s smile, were treasures she held close.
One of her greatest passions was sports. She was her grandchildren’s biggest fan, attending when she could, and when she couldn’t be there in person, she never missed a moment on her iPad. Everyone who loved her knew the college basketball and NASCAR schedule by heart, as she made sure to send texts announcing each NCAA game and race and its time. It was her special way of staying connected, her messages, her reminders, her little notes of love that always seemed to arrive at just the right moment. Jackie had a gift for making people feel remembered, valued, and loved.
Jackie had a kindness that radiated effortlessly. She greeted everyone with warmth, offered compassion without hesitation, and carried a gentle strength that inspired those around her. She was a steady source of comfort and joy to all who knew her. To her family, she was simply the best: the best wife, the best mom, the best nana in the world. Her absence leaves a space that can never be filled, but her love leaves a legacy that will continue to guide and hold them forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 14th, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, at the East Meredith Fire Department. All who knew and loved Jackie are warmly invited to join the family in honoring her remarkable life and sharing cherished memories.
Donations in her memory can be made to the East Meredith Fire Department.
Jackie will be deeply, dearly, and endlessly missed. May her memory be a blessing and may the love she shared continue to shine in all those she touched.
