Janet Shatynski

13 febrero , 194119 abril , 2021

Janet Rose Shatynski, 80, went home to be with her precious Lord on Monday, April 19, 2021. She passed peacefully from this life to the next at her home in Oneonta, NY with her husband Mark by her side. Janet was born in Walton, NY on February 13, 1941 to Douglas and Louise (Kilmer) Tweedie. She attended Delaware Academy School and graduated in 1959. She and Mark Shatynski were married on June 27, 1987 and enjoyed 33 years of marriage. Jan enjoyed doing many things, including (when she was able) gardening, bird watching, cross country skiing and just being out in nature. But what was most important to her was her relationship with Jesus Christ. This was her greatest joy throughout her life and her solid foundation through many difficult times. Jan is survived by her husband, Mark Shatynski; and two daughters, Bethanne (Beach) Cornell (and husband, Steve), and Robin Lea (Beach) MacDonald (and husband, Mike). She also has two grandchildren, Asia Lea Fairweather (and husband, Travis), and Aaron MacDonald, as well as one great grandchild, Barrett Fairweather. She is also survived by a sister, Patricia (Tweedie) Christian (and husband, Raymond). A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, May 1 at HillCity Church (1796 County Hwy 48) in Oneonta, NY.

I will miss Jan very much. We've been friends since 1962. We met at the WellsBridge Baptist Church when we were both young married couples. We bonded and shared many family meals and fun times. Our children were stairsteps, Beth, Thea, Robin and Wendy.
Jan and I and girls walked back and forth between houses all the time.
So many good memories. We reconnected via FB some years back and talked regularly all these years since. Jan was woman of unshakeable faith which she shared always. She loved her girls and their families and husband Mark dearly. She is waiting by the Eastern gate watching over all.

I’m going to miss you more than words, Momma, but I know you are now free from pain and smiling down on Robin and I and our families. Blessed to have had you for 80 years. I’ll talk to you often and see you in God’s handiwork in my beautiful gardens. Rest in heavenly peace Mom😔❤️

I will always cherish the many moments spent with you and your family. My favorite of all time was going to VBS and the night you led Christi and I to Jesus. You have forever changed my life. Thank you. Till we see you again, we love you.

Words can not express all the gratitude and love for all the witnessing, counseling and support you have given to our family. Jan, you are loved always. May you rest in peace in the arms of our Savior.
