Jennie T. Crandall

She was born March 18, 1930 in Kortright, the daughter of Claude H. and Hetty (Martin) Turk. She was one of seven children.

Jennie married William W. “Bill” Crandall on September 14, 1947 in Hobart. Bill predeceased her on July 28, 2011.

She was employed and the Oneonta Dress Factory, Sew & Save, Otego Elementary as an Aide, and Pie in the Sky. In their later years, she and Bill drove vehicles for Hometown Auto, Scoville-Meno, and Country Club Chevy.

Jennie was a member of the Otego Presbyterian Church and a member of their Ladies Guild. She was an avid gardener, and enjoyed cooking, baking, and sewing. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Alan W. and wife, Clara Crandall of Belchertown, MA, Claudia S. Hilts of Oneonta, and Sherri L. and husband, Keith Allen of Maryland; grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer, Geoffrey, Wesley, Diego, Mauricio, Jon and Nathan; 14 great grandchildren, Jacquilin, Diego, Maya, Landin, Xzander, Lily, Ryan, Teaghan, Noah, Payton, Jacobo, Hal, Gemma, and Jackson; 1 great-great grandchild, Magdalena; and several nieces and nephews.

Jennie’s home was always open and she had several acquired children, especially Gary Baker.

She was predeceased by her parents and siblings, Phyllis, Peg, Bill, Phoebe, Ken, and Claude.

Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, February, 3, 2022 at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 4 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Douglas Horne, pastor of the Otego Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Interment will take place in the spring at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
