Joseph A. Amatuccio Sr.

He was born on October 29, 1931 in Oneonta the son of Frank and Mary (Civita) Amatuccio. He married Dorothy Mae Dow on September 6, 1968.

Joe served his country in the US Army from 1952 to 1954, and was discharged as a Private First Class.

For 9 years he delivered Meals on Wheels, and prior to that he worked for Sears in Oneonta for 27 years.

Joe was a member of St. Mary’s Church.

He enjoyed travelling, camping, and many other day trips, including frequent trips to the casino.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mae Amatuccio of Oneonta; his children, Scott Amatuccio and his companion, Joanne Shastany of Laurens, Joseph A. Amatuccio, Jr., and his wife Barbara of Fairchance, PA, Mary Knapp and her husband, Donald of Milford, Samuel Amatuccio and his companion, Gail Furgason of Sidney, Tina M. Cowan and her husband Matt of North Vernon, Indiana, and Dorothy M. Komenda, and her husband, Bill of Oneonta; 11 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren; his sister, Norine Feola and her husband, Ernest of Oneonta, and many nieces, and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Frank Amatuccio.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:15 AM on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 in St. Mary’s Church with the Rev. Scott Vanderveer, parochial vicar, officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Emmons.

Friends may call on Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta from 5 to 7 at which time the family will be in attendance.
