

Katie was born on April 13, 1981 to Bonnie and Mark Hamilton.
Katie graduated from Delaware Academy High School in 1999. As a senior she set a new State Section IV pole vault record. She spent a year in Germany as part of the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange administered by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State, before attending the University of Buffalo where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a minor in German in 2004. She later returned to the University of Buffalo and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2006. She loved children and specialized in maternity and pediatric care. She also worked in nursing homes where she provided compassionate care to Alzheimer’s patients and their families.
Katie is survived by her loving parents, Bonnie and Mark; her maternal grandmother Effie Wheeler; her loving sisters, Amanda (Mandy) Walsh (Christopher Matthews), and Marcella (Marcie) Gallucci (Kevin Ritchko); brother-in-law Ryan Walsh; cherished nephews, Rowan Walsh, Brennan Walsh, Kieran Walsh, and Gavin Matthews; cherished niece Holdyn Gallucci; and Grace Bologra, a very special child in her life. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She leaves behind a constant companion in her life, beloved family dog Fiona.
Katie was a loving and devoted aunt to her four nephews and niece who were rays of sunshine in her life. Katie was an honorary aunt to Grace Bologra, a relationship that filled her with joy. She could often be seen scooping ice cream and making ice cream cakes during her summers working for Norman and Vivian Blakeslee at Dairy Delight. Katie was an avid reader, enjoyed keeping up with pop culture and current events. Katie took pleasure in crossword puzzles and playing games with her family. Katie had a generous heart, was kind to animals and loved helping friends and family. She will be dearly and deeply missed by all who had the joy of knowing her.
Katie was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Alston F Wheeler; paternal grandfather, John T. "Jack" Hamilton; paternal grandmother, Theresa "Te" Hamilton; paternal uncle, John T. Hamilton; and brother-in-law John P. Gallucci. She was also predeceased by beloved family dog Finnegan.
