

Nancy passed peacefully Wednesday morning surrounded by her husband, daughter and son who cared for her together in her final days. Nancy was fond of many and was loved by all and she met many friends along the way. Through her kindness, love and wisdom she helped save many peoples lives during her lifetime and looked forward to seeing them all again one day. Her heart belonged to her children and grandchildren. Her life belonged to her husband. Her soul belonged to God and her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ.
Nancy was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Baldwin, Long Island before making her way to Oneonta, NY after graduating Highschool. Nancy worked many jobs during her life, her favorites being a dental assistant in Cooperstown and Oneonta, where she met her beloved husband Terry for the first time. She also loved her career as a daycare provider which she did from home for 5 years while also raising her own children,Tressa and Matthew. She became known for her kindness and patience with children who needed special attention and loved them all as if they were her own. She went back to school to continue her education and eventually decided to work for her husband at Astrocom Electronics in Colliersville, NY for 10 years. Nancy eventually became disabled but volunteered throughout her life when she could. Her Final career was as a homemaker, wife/mother/grandmother/sister/friend and later, as a mentor for the Nurses and other patients at the Dialysis unit in Oneonta on River Street, where she received treatment for 4 years She was very proud of that job and said it was an honor to be of service to the nurses that provided her care and to her friends receiving treatment who she called family.
Nancys hobbies were baking, sitting outside in the sun, listening to music, reading mystery books by her favorite author, Frieda McFadden and in her younger days she enjoyed her hobby as an arts and crafts enthusiast. She is survived by her Husband of nearly 50 years Terry L. Hotaling, son Matthew M. Hotaling, daughter Tressa L. Becker and her fiance Kris A. Ruda, Grandchildren Zachary J., Christopher T., and Ethan R. Becker, as well as 2 Great grandchildren Siris and Stella. She is also survived by her siblings John Ely (Terri), Jean Bene, Mary Cruz, James Ely Jr (Mary) and Gerry Ely, sisters and brothers inlaws Al Hotaling Jr(Linda), Patty Reichenbach (Jay), Cindy Chamberlain (James), Elise Jorgensen, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom she loved and had special relationships with each of them. Nancy is predeceased by her Father James Ely, Mother Susan Herbert Ely, Stepmom Ann Ely, her youngest brother Thomas Ely, Mother and Father Laws, Shirley & Lloyd Stone, Al & Harriet Hotaling, Cindy Sue Hotaling, Bertha Ferguson and several friends & family she lost throughout her life.
Nancy's final wishes were to not have any funeral services or calling hours and to be remembered as she was in everyone's hearts. She will be missed, loved and remembered always until we meet her again when the time comes.
