Nancy Yvonne Rozelle

On May 12, 2023, while surrounded by her children, Nancy Yvonne Rozelle of Oneonta went to her heavenly home. Nancy was born on November 9, 1934 in Palmerton, PA, the daughter of Anna (Hendricks) and Austin Smith.

Nancy graduated with a BS in music education from Westchester University. She also attended Ithaca College and Cortland State to earn her master’s degree. She began her career in Allentown, PA, then continued teaching music in Whitney Point, where she was also the choir director of the Whitney Point United Methodist Church for many years. She then taught at Morris Central School and Edmeston Central School. She ended her teaching career at Unatego School System as an elementary and vocal music teacher. She touched the lives of many students.

Nancy married the love of her life, Jesse Rozelle, on May 25th, 1957. He predeceased her on March 20, 2015. She was also predeceased by her eight siblings. She is survived by her children Debra Allen (Jeff), Denise Erbe (Mark Spaziani), Paul Rozelle (Patty), and Lori Hart. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jessica Allen (Rob Rivera), Paul Rozelle (Ashley), Jodi Allen, Jennifer Allen (Chris Haney), and Zachary Erbe. She is survived by her great-grandchildren Brayden, Cooper, Autumn, Summerlin, Liam, Jackson, Oliver, Hazel, and Hannah, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed going out to eat, swimming, sunbathing, playing games, and doing crossword puzzles. She was an accomplished bassoonist and pianist.

Nancy and her husband were snowbirds, traveling to Fort Myers Beach, FL during the winter months after her retirement.

Calling hours will be on May 25th at the Elm Park United Methodist Church from 1-2pm, with celebration of life immediately following at 2pm. The celebration will be officiated by Pastor John Buddle.
