Neil D. Haynes

Neil D. Haynes, cherished husband, stepfather, grandfather, and proud U.S. Marine, passed away peacefully at home on April 28, 2025. Born in Rome, NY, on May 22, 1942, Neil dedicated his life to serving others both in uniform and in his career as a skilled and compassionate physician assistant. His commitment to his work was matched only by his love for his family, his passion for the great outdoors, and his unwavering devotion to his country.

Neil found joy in hunting and fishing, embracing the tranquility and adventure that nature offered. Above all, he cherished his time with his wife, Elizabeth Haynes, and their precious puppies.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth, his stepchildren, David, Christina, and John, and his grandchildren, Breanna, Taylor, Sean, Wyatt, and Calvin.

His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Neil’s legacy is one of kindness, dedication, and a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures. He will be greatly missed.

In honoring his life, may we carry forward his love for family, his passion for the outdoors, and his steadfast spirit of service.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta with the Rev. Stephen D. Fournier officiating.
