
Ralph was born October 10, 1924 in Norwich, the son of the late Stephen and Ethel (Spicer) Leach. He married Anne Fisher on December 2, 1949 in Oneonta.
Ralph graduated from Hartwick High School and attended the Albany Business College. He was an Equifax Insurance Investigator for 22 years. He retired from NY Central Insurance Company after 10 years as a vice president. He served his country in the US Army during WW II.
Ralph was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Oneonta Elks Club, the Oneonta American Legion and the Colonial Ridge Golf Course.
As an Oneonta City Alderman, he was instrumental in getting the public safety building and parking garage built.
He was an avid golfer, fisherman, former bowler and horse shoe player. He loved gardening, landscaping, spending winters in Florida and going for long walks with his wife.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anne Leach of Oneonta; his sons, Ralph and Nancy Leach of Ashburn, Virginia, Mark and Deborah Leach of Oneonta and Jeffrey Leach of Oneonta.
He is also survived by his granddaughters, Heather and Leslie Anne Leach and several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours and a private family memorial service will take place at a later date.
His family requests memorial contributions in Ralph’s memory be made to the American Cancer Society, 5 Oak Ave, Sidney, NY 13838 or the Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta, NY 13820.
