Growing up, he loved spending time at Goodyear Lake, where he water-skied and boated. He was a dedicated lifeguard at Pine Lake and the YMCA. Richard was an avid classic car enthusiast and builder, attending car shows across the country. He custom painted fenders and motorcycle tanks, enjoyed woodworking and carpentry, and was an avid astronomer, building several telescopes. Richard also enjoyed coin and stamp collecting. Above all, he loved his family and spending time outdoors.
Richard is predeceased by his parents and aunt, Marion. He is survived by his loving wife, Neri; daughter, Crystal Smallin; brother and sister-in-law, John and Betty Smallin; sole grandson, Mason; and many nieces and nephews.
At the family's request, there will not be calling hours. A private celebration of Richard's life will be held at a later date.
