

He was born on January 24, 1960 in Englewood, NJ, a son of the late Ed and Helen Escobar.
Roger proudly served in the United States Army from 1977 to 1980 in the 101st Airborne Recon unit, achieving a rank of E4 Private First Class. He was stationed in the Korean Demilitarized Zone.
He was a self employed craftsman and an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed woodworking, especially building birdhouses. He loved to go camping, fishing and hunting, and just going out for a ride on his motorcycle. Roger was also a bit of a prankster who liked playing practical jokes on family and friends.
Roger took great pride in his family, immediate and extended, but was truly devoted to his grandchildren. He was a kind, caring, and loving man who was always there to help someone in need, his door was always open. Roger was also involved in many charities, including ice cream runs and toy runs. His favorite charity was the Wounded Warriors Project.
He is survived by his son, Roger J. Escobar, Jr., and his wife Tammy; his daughters, Sara Lottermann, and her husband Mike, and Annmarie Hoag, and her husband Doug; and his precious grandchildren, Ryan Escobar, Natasha Escobar, Kayla Escobar, Angel Lottermann, Nevaeh Lottermann, Jasmine Lottermann, Alexis Lottermann, Candice Hoag, Curstin Hoag, Hunter Hoag, Monica Butler, and Robert Southern.
Roger is also survived by his brother, John Escobar, and his companion Pam Morrissey; his sisters, Joanne Escobar, and Michelle Mcdoal, and her husband Bill; several nieces and nephews, Corey, Dana, Jeremiah, Rodney, and Michael; and all of his adopted family and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Roger’s life will be held at 2pm on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta. Friends and family may call from 1pm to 2pm prior to the service at the funeral home, at which time his family will receive guests.
