
He was born on August 15, 1943 in German, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Arthur S. and Lila Mae (Baker) Galbreth. On December 7, 1963, Russell married Priscilla J. Hulbert in Laurens, New York.
Russell was a hard working man. He was employed by Amphenol in Sidney for over 30 years as a machinist. When he wasn’t working at the plant, he could usually be found in his backyard garage tinkering with a snowmobile or some other mechanical device. Russell really loved being outdoors, he would often be out riding his snowmobile through the local trails, taking the family on a camping trip, or heading out with his sons to do a little hunting and fishing. One of his greatest passions was going to the dirt track races, especially watch to the big block modifieds run.
He was a past president of the Laurens Night Owl Snowmobile Club and an associate member of the Laurens American Legion.
Russell is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Priscilla Galbreth of Laurens; his children, Donald Galbreth, and his wife Lisa, of Garrettsville, Bonnie Bryden, and her husband Neal, of Lacona, NY, Billy Galbreth, and his wife Chantel, of Laurens, and John Galbreth, and his wife Theresa, of Sidney.
He is also survived by his brother, William Yoder, of Laurens; his sister, Clara Decker, of Largo, FL; several grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Russell was predeceased by his sister and her husband, Nancy and Roy Goodspeed, and his brothers, Kendall Yoder and Norman Yoder.
In keeping with Russell’s wishes, there will be no public calling hours or funeral services. A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date convenient to the family.
In lieu of flowers, Russell’s family requests that you kindly consider making a donation in his memory to the Laurens Volunteer Fire Dept., 34 Main Street, Laurens, NY 13796, who helped him and his family so much during the past several years.
