Stu was predeceased by two wives, Alice and Irene, and by a son, Brien. He is survived by a son, Douglas Hadden, of Medford; by a daughter, Laurie Sweatman, of Unadilla N.Y.; by three grandchildren, Robert Sweatman (Maggie), Kate Sweatman and Brittany Hadden, and by a great-grandchild, Evelina Sweatman.
After graduating from Choate School (Conn.) and a brief stay at Valley Forge Military Academy, Stu joined the Marine Corps and served in the Pacific in World War II. After returning from the war, he attended Yale University and was captain of the fencing team.
Among several career paths taken, Stu owned the Outdoor Trader in Medford Lakes and was the greens superintendent at the Links Golf Club in Marlton. He also was an active member at the Medford Lakes Country Club, and an accomplished hunter and fisherman.
The family held a private service in New York.
