Thomas F. Norris Jr.

He was born January 24, 1936 in Troy the son of Thomas F. and Elizabeth (O’Donaghue) Norris, Sr. He married Gail Faulkner on August 6, 1960 in Watervliet, NY.

Tom served his country in the US Army from 1954 to 1956.

Tom worked until 2012 as an Adjunct Professor at SUNY Cobleskill. From 1985-2001, he worked as a management consultant for Pricewaterhouse Coopers, from which he retired. Prior to that he was a systems analyst for Avon Products.

Tom was involved in prison ministries (REC) in the Capitol District area. While living in Cortlandt Manor, he and Gail were founding members of Holy Spirit Parish, where he was the Director of Religious Education, Confirmation Catechist, a choir member, and a member of the Parish Council.

He also coached soccer for the Town of Cortlandt.

An area resident since 2001 moving here from Cortlandt Manor, NY, Tom was an active member of St. Mary’s Church, singing in the choir, serving on the men’s Cornerstone Group Committee, and the RCIA.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gail Norris of Oneonta; his children, Timothy Norris of Peekskill, Sandra (Roger) Schwoerer of Stamford, CT., Susan (Francis) Norris-Olivia, of Norwalk, CT., Kevin (Amy) Norris of Ballston Lake, Matthew (Dawn) Norris of Peekskill, and Amy Norris of Mahopac; his grandchildren, Jack, Lily, Henry, Francis, Tomas, Emma, Abigail, Renee, and Sara.

He is also survived by a niece, Sally Rushford of Watervliet, as well as, several other nieces , nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by a sister, Joan Chaloux.

A funeral mass will be offered on Thursday April 18, 2013 at 10:15 AM in St. Mary’s Church with the Rev. David Mickiewicz, pastor, officiating.

Friends may call on Wednesday April 17, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta, NY 13820 at which time the family will be in attendance.
