
He was born on July 31, 1922 in Kingston the son of Bartholomew and Elizabeth (Wenzel) Reilly. He was married to Katherine Gallagher for 65 years, before her passing on August 15, 2010.
Bill served in the US Army during World War II.
Bill retired from Homer Folks Hospital, and prior to that he worked for the Oneonta Sales Co. Following his retirement, he worked for the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, St. Mary’s Church, and was the superintendent of Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
While living in Oneonta, he was an active member of St. Mary’s Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree, BPOE 1312, Oneonta American Legion Post 259, and a faithful volunteer at AO Fox Hospital.
Bill was an avid golfer. He had various other interests including, doing jig saw puzzles with his family, and building doll houses and miniature furniture.
Bill is survived by his daughters, Patricia Fontaine and her husband, Paul of Daytona Beach, Florida, Katherine Higgins and her husband, Richard of Schenectady and Margaret Bacchi and her husband, Raymond of Satellite Beach, Florida; his sons, William Reilly, Jr. and his wife, Paula of Poquoson, Virginia, James Reilly and his wife, Debbie of Maryland and John Reilly and his wife, Francie of Mariposa, California; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brothers, Frank (Cora) Reilly of Port Ewen, NY, Phil (Joyce) Reilly of Deland, FL, Eddie (Kathleen) Reilly of Phoenicia; his sisters, Mary Dean of Egg Harbor, NJ, Alice Dell of Saugerties, and Marge Wapchel of Saugerties.
He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters, Bart and Joe Reilly, and Kate Williams and Betty Craig.
A funeral mass will be offered on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 10:15 AM in St. Mary’s Church with Rev. Bernard Ampong, officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Emmons.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 6 to 8 at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta, at which time the family will be in attendance.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s name may be made to the Hospice of St. Francis, 1250-B Grumman Place, Titusville, Fl. 32780.
