Cristina Lopez Garza

Cristina Lopez Garza left this world and went to be with Jesus on April 18, 2025, just shy of her 102nd birthday. She was born Maria Cristina Lopez in La Grulla, Texas. Cristina attended elementary school in Hargill, Texas, but soon found herself spending time at home caring for her mother and grandmother who were ill. At age nine, she was cooking and cleaning for them. This was the beginning of her life as a servant caring for others. She married Uvaldo Garza, a boy she met in grade school, in 1946. During times of financial hardship, she worked a few different jobs, but for the most part, she was a devoted mother and homemaker who dedicated her life to raising her six children. Cristina and family moved from South Texas to Southern California in 1960. She instilled in her children the importance of the education she was not able to have, as well as the love of family and the Lord. What endeared Cristina to everyone that she met was her love for others. She shared the love of Jesus with her family, friends, caretakers, whoever came to the house, and, later, she shared that love with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved staying in touch with each and every family member. She was a constant prayer warrior, lifting up prayers for family throughout each day. She had a wonderful sense of humor, always with a glint in her eye as she joked about something that she found funny. You just wanted to be near her and spend time with her. Now, she is spending time with Jesus, worshipping Him and, no doubt, flashing that beautiful smile of hers in heaven. Cristina is survived by her six children, Alex (and Lucy) Garza, Uvaldo (and Lupe) Garza, Jr., Diana (and Andy) Ramirez, Armando (and MaryAnn) Garza, Norma (and Anthan) Manocchi, and Nora (and Ray) Garza-Wise; 14 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Aurora Zuniga, Belia Cano, and brother, Alfredo Lopez.

A funeral service for Cristina will be held Monday, May 12, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Draper Mortuary, 811 North Mountain Ave, Ontario, CA 91762. Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at Bellevue Memorial Park, 1240 W G St, Ontario, CA 91762.
