Daniel Alan Boswell II, affectionately known as "Boz," passed away on January 26, 2025, in Arcadia, California, at the age of 48. He was born on October 5, 1976, in Torrance, California, to Lona and Dan Alan Boswell. Growing up in Upland, Daniel developed a lifelong passion for sports, especially baseball.
A 1994 graduate of Upland High School, Daniel excelled academically and athletically, lettering in both football and baseball. He continued his education and athletic pursuits as a scholar-athlete at Pomona College, graduating in 1998. He later earned a Master's of Education from the University of La Verne.
Daniel was a lifelong educator and coach, dedicated to keeping the love of baseball alive in the kids he coached. Boz will be remembered as a team-first natural leader, positive and patient, with a gentle spirit and charming smile.
Daniel had a soundtrack for everything and a playlist for every occasion. A self-proclaimed weather nerd, he was affectionate, passionate, and kind-hearted, with an ever-endearing silly streak. His greatest joy was his family, both by blood and by choice. He also loved surfing, snowboarding, the beach, and, of course, the Angels – especially Mike Trout.
Daniel is survived by his partner, Karen Raab, his sons, Charlie and Thomas, his mother, Lona, his sister, Bethanie, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, countless friends, and his beloved pup, Trout. He was predeceased by his father, Dan Boswell.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 25th, at 1:00 PM at Draper Mortuary in Ontario, CA, following a private graveside service at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Riverside. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Angels Baseball Foundation.
