Daniel was born on October 16, 1993, in Fontana, California, to his parents, Travis and Griselda Brooks. From an early age, he carried a quiet determination that would shape the course of his life. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, a milestone that reflected both his dedication and his thoughtful, steady nature. In his work as an electrical engineer, Daniel brought not only skill and intelligence, but also care, approaching each challenge with patience and integrity. Even when life became difficult, and at times the world seemed against him, Daniel persevered with a quiet strength that spoke volumes about who he was.
Outside of his profession, Daniel found joy in the things that brought people together and made life feel vibrant. He had a deep love for music and could often be found attending concerts or listening to his favorite artists. He enjoyed playing Dungeons & Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, and video games, spaces where his creativity and humor could shine. Daniel was an active part of Dungeons & Dragons and the Magic: The Gathering community. More than just a participant, he was someone who made others feel welcome. His gentle humor, kind spirit, and wonderfully quirky personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He had a quiet way of making people feel seen, included, and understood - an uncommon and deeply meaningful gift. He also loved to draw, expressing himself in ways that words sometimes could not. Japan held a special place in his heart, reflecting his curiosity, imagination, and appreciation for the world beyond his own.
In his later years, Daniel found a renewed sense of peace through his Catholic faith, strengthening his relationship with God and drawing comfort and guidance from it. He loved the series The Chosen, which deepened his understanding of his faith and it held a personal significance for him.
“If you don’t like the road you’re walking, start paving another one.” In many ways, Daniel lived this without needing to say it out loud. He followed his own path; one shaped by curiosity, creativity, and kindness. Despite the challenges he faced, he continued forward, building a life that was uniquely his and creating spaces where others felt they belonged too.
Daniel is reunited in passing with his father, Travis J. Brooks, his cousin, Vincent A. De La Cruz, and the close friends who passed before him. He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Griselda Brooks, his sister, Briza C. Brooks, family, friends, and loved ones whose lives he touched.
Daniel will be remembered for his gentle heart, his wit, and his unwavering loyalty. He carried a quiet strength and a kindness that spoke louder than words. Though his time with us feels far too short, the love he gave and the connections he built will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
