Frances Ruth Rowlands

Frances “Fran” Rowlands passed away peacefully at her home in Ontario on January 30th, 2022. Born Frances Ruth Smythe July 2nd, 1928, in Riverside, CA her family soon moved to Ontario where she attended local schools before graduating from Chaffey High School and attending Chaffey College.

She enjoyed growing up in Ontario and had many fond memories of riding her horse to school.

Fran was introduced to Sonny Rowlands and in July 1946 they were married and made Ontario their lifelong home and started a family with their son Glenn and daughter Teri. Sonny and Fran were married for 70 years and enjoyed travel and hosting their 4th of July Barbeque where they would spend time with their family and friends. In later years she enjoyed reading Westerns, weekly lunches with her close friends and watching sports, especially her Raiders. Fran worked for many years at the family business Dorning Tractor’s. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Ontario and was also a Lady Elk at the Ontario Elks Lodge 1419.

Fran is preceded in death by her husband Francis “Sonny “Rowlands and is survived by her children, Glenn Rowlands and Teri Ludwig, her 3 grandsons, Glenn Rowlands, Nick Ludwig and Randy Ludwig, 2 great grandchildren, Zacc Rowlands and Abigale Rowlands, 2 sister in laws, Jo Ann Toothaker and Sandi Rowlands, nieces, nephews and cousins, many close friends and her best friend and Loyal Cat of 17 years “Tina”.
