Jean was born November 21, 1926, in Pryor, Oklahoma, to Lucinda and Lewis Bisbee. She was one of nine children who grew up on a farm near Mena, Arkansas. She moved her family to California from the Midwest in 1954, and waited tables at Breakfast at Carl’s and the Olympic Flame in Pomona for decades. She worked in the Chaffey Community College cafeteria in Alta Loma and retired from there in 1991. She then became a caregiver for Marion “Hoppy” Stewart of Claremont until Hoppy’s passing in 2004. Jean was devoted to her family, pitching in any way she could, baking Barbie doll cakes for granddaughters’ birthdays and babysitting grandchildren and great grandchildren whenever asked. She was an independent and capable woman, whether she was taking a 2000-mile road trip solo or changing the oil in her own car.
She is survived by three sons and a daughter: Glenn Davis (Dorothy Smith-Davis) of Fontana, Michael Davis of Pomona, Bill Davis (Patti) of Barstow, and Jakki Dickerson Boline (Ron), in Colorado. She was preceded in death by her son, Lewis “Butch” Davis in 1996. Jean is also survived by eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Her memorial service will be held Saturday July 29 at 2.00 p.m. in Draper Memorial Chapel, 811 N. Mountain Ave., Ontario.
