Isabel “Chavela” Peraza returned to her heavenly home on February 23, 2021 at the age of 80. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God gave her the daily strength she needed each day of her life.
Isabel was born to the late Rafael and Celia Peraza, a meat vendor and a restaurant chef, however, Isabel remembered her mother as the most important homemaker in her life. Her strong foundation of her faith was instilled at an early age from the many services she attended. As a child, she found her love for music and the Lord when she would sing hymns in the church choir. Throughout her adolescent years, she assisted her mom in learning how to cook, which would help her know how to cook for her own family one day. As she grew older she discovered she had a natural instinct as an entrepreneur of homemade goods. In early adulthood, she attended school to become a Spanish teacher, however, it was God’s will that she would be a homemaker, whose life mission was to engrain important moral values in her children, morals that they could refer to throughout their life. One of the most important life lessons that she forever engraved in their hearts is importance of loving and knowing her Heavenly Father as she transitioned from her faith in Catholicism to Christianity.
Isabel was blessed with a large and loving family that only continued to grow as the years passed. At the age of 27, she was married and later gave life to five beautiful children. Those who knew her were amazed by her grace and acceptance as she took on the role of sole provider of her family. As an independent woman, she raised her children with unconditional love, patience, discipline, and humility. God blessed her with lifelong friends whom she was able to share her faith and make memories throughout the years- friends who her children consider pillars in their life today.
Although she is in heaven, she is forever remembered in the hearts of those who are still alive today. She is survived by her two siblings, Jesus and Jose Luis Peraza who find comfort in reliving the memories they created as children until it was time for her to meet the Lord. Isabel is survived by her five children: Eugenio Jr, Angelica, Sonia, Elena, and Elias. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren: Marissa, Ruben, Jessica, Sarah, Rachel, Andrew, Lissette, Matthew, and Ariana .In addition, she is survived by four great grandchildren: Claymore, Calibur, Forrest, and Sawyer (expected to arrive in July of 2021). Her family is at peace knowing she will reunite with her Heavenly Father as he finds her name in the Book of Life and is able to walk side by side with her parents, Celia and Rafael and her siblings Victor and Ernestina.
Isabel will be laid to rest on May 14th of 2021. Her service will take place at Draper Mortuary Chapel at 11:30am where her family and loved ones will attend. Elder Fraizer, Pastor Chavez, and Pastor Josue will officiate the service. The burial will follow shortly after at Bellevue Memorial Park at 2:30p.m., where her loved ones will each release a dove in her honor and to represent her belief in The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. To commemorate her heritage and love for music, Mariachis will play some of her favorite songs and others that remind the family members of her. The family graciously accepts all prayers, condolences, memories, and any donations made to a St. Jude Memorial in Isabel’s name at https://linktr.ee/RIPIsabelPeraza
