

July 11, 1922 - June 27, 2011 James (Jim) Dewey Deeton, Jr. passed away after a short illness, on June 27, 2011. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Ellen Elizabeth (Durrer); and children, Dewey Deeton (spouse, Harriet), Leandra Deeton, Pat Deeton (spouse, Kathy), Christopher Deeton (spouse, Yvette), Angela Hoover (spouse, Clif), and Bill Deeton; along with 7 beautiful Granddaughters. Born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia, Jim worked at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, then joined the Navy in 1942 to help with the war effort. He has eventually assigned to the U.S.S. Willmarth, DE-638, and shipped out of Mare Island to the South Pacific in 1944 for a 20 month tour. Jim served his Country with distinction, and in later years attended reunions with his shipmates. After completing his Tour of Duty, Jim went to work as a Machinist for the Naval Weapons Bureau/Department of Defense. He eventually worked his way up to Overseas Engineering Liaison, working at the Pomona facility. He brought the family to Southern California in 1959, and retired in 1977. After retirement, he enjoyed a lot of visits to the family cabin in Tehachapi, playing golf, and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. A Wonderful and Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather, with a unique sense of humor. He will be missed by many and was loved by many. A lot of his children's friends considered him like a second Dad, as he was generous and loving to all who spent time at the house on Rose Avenue in Montclair. Services will be at Draper Mortuary, 811 Mountain Ave., Ontario. Visitation will be Thursday, June 30th from 5-8 P.M. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday morning, July 1st, with Interment thereafter at Bellevue Memorial Park, Ontario. Please join friends and family after the services for a "Celebration of Life" to be held at the Ontario Elks Lodge #1419, 1150 West Fourth St., Ontario, Calif. (1-5 P.M.)
