

After graduation from High school Jim joined the Navy. He served for 4 years, ending his career stationed in San Diego, he remained in Ca, going to work for General Dynamics as Project Manager in Pomona & Ontario, Ca.
Jim married Jean E. Pederson October 30, 1960. They had 3 children. Jean preceeded Jim in death in 2008
As a child Jim enjoyed building things. He built a Box Car which he entered in a Derby Race. He was an avid Green Bay Packer Fan as well as a Angels Fan. Jim was a big fisherman enjoying fishing in WI with his two brother in laws (better known as his outlaws) Glenn & Robert, as well as The Salton Sea, Big Bear in his later years. Another thing he enjoyed was driving their motor home cross country visiting family and friends along the way, as well as his trip to Nashville and trips to Branson, MO. Jim was an average golfer, really enjoying the game. (Playing golf with Paul & his son Glenn was a challenge) Jim Loved volunteering his time to Hawthorne Elementary, all the students called him grandpa.
Jim is survived by his children. Daughter Colleen & Kerry Shank, of Fort Wayne, In, sons William & Glenn Stecker of Ontario,CA , Lori and Robert Wettstein Grandchildren Troy & Tory Shank, Elaine, Amber (Fiace Mike Faust) and Lauren Shank of Ft Wayne, Ind. Clifford Stecker of Riverside, CA, Garrett & Emily Stecker of Ontario, Ca. Great Granddaughter Mary Ann Shank of Ft Wayne, Ind., and Nieces & Nephews, Cousins and many friends. His adopted family Sister Sheila, Paul & Maureen Soucier & Family. Preceeded in death by daughter in law Amanda Stecker, sister & brother in law Barbette & Glenn Turner. Nieces & Nephews; Peggy Freehawf, Pam(Stan) Dolinski, Penny (Brian)Minor, Pat(Prudy)Turner. Great Nieces & Nephews; Jason (Amy) Freehauf, Amy Freehauf, Joshua(Ivy)Dolinski, Brian (Mellissa)Minor, Rebekah (Jeff) Koznek, Bethany Minor/David Remington, Matthew Turner, Megan(Derek)Stutz, Jacob(Ashley)Turner. Great great nieces and nephews; Hannah &Clint Freehauf, Conner&Alyssa Dolinski, Ella & Tucker Koznek, Hudson Remington, Ethan Minor, Autumn & Kennedy Rosestutz.
A memorial for Lung Association has been set. Viewing is Wednesday March 25, 2015 from 4 - 8pm with the Rosary at 6pm at Draper Memorial Chapel in Ontario, Ca. A memorial mass will be held Thursday March 26, 2015 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church 877 N. Campus Ave. Upland, CA at 10am. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.
