Jean was born on August 16, 1934 in Los Angeles, Ca. She was the eldest daughter of John H. Palmatier and Ethel M. McCaughey. Jean grew up in Alhambra, CA, attended local schools and graduated from Alhambra High School in 1952. After high school she moved to Alaska and soon started a family with her first husband. Soon her first two children, Sharon and Robert were born. After returning to southern California Jean met and found the true love of her life Kenneth with whom she has spent the last 51 years together. They just recently celebrated their 51 anniversary on September 30, 2010. Jean and Ken started their family in La Puente, CA with the birth of their first daughter, Donna Jean. Soon after came the birth of their second daughter, Judi Marie. Not soon after that was the blessed birth of their twin daughters, Susan Eileen and Laurie Ann. Jean and Ken moved to El Monte, CA where they stayed to raise their daughters. After the children grew up, Jean worked as an efficient secretary for an Insurance Company. Her secretarial skills and attention to ALL the details is something she practiced throughout her life. Jean was a member of Theta Sigma Phi Beta-Beta Chapter sorority for 35 years. This sorority raised money for Special Education Teachers. Some of Jeans hobbies were reading books, a lot of books, playing bingo, collecting carousel horses, doing counted cross stitch and making lists for everything! Her favorite TV shows were Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, 24 and let’s not forget her many soap operas! Our mom was a prankster at heart. She would always send a card for different occasions. We all knew what we in store for….CONFETTI !!!!! We have to say that her longtime passion was sports and collecting knowledge of all of the stats! She knew more about sports than most men, especially about baseball.
She had an extreme obsession with her Arizona Diamondbacks and with her favorite player #25 David Dellucci. She followed him throughout his career. Over the years she had made quite a collection of baseball memorabilia. Mom was a dedicated and true sports fan.
