

John William Bramer was born August 27, 1928 to Alvin and Rita (Penheiter) Bramer in Mankato, Minnesota. He attended elementary school in Matawan, MN and High School in Freeborn, MN. He graduated from Bethany College in Mankato, MN in 1948, St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester, MN in 1951, and from the School of Anesthesia, Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, WI in 1953. John served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He was the Company Administrative Clerk while stationed in Germany from March ’53 to May ’54 before serving as a Medical Aidman at Fort Sheridan, IL. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Army of Occupation (Germany) Medal and the Good Conduct Medal before being Honorably discharged in 1955.
After military service he moved to San Luis Obispo, CA where he met and married Bernice Skikiewicz. He worked as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in San Luis Obispo until 1959, when he and Bernice returned to the Midwest to work in MN and ND until 1972 when they moved to Texas. After a year in TX, they returned to California to work at Kaiser Permanente in Fontana until his retirement in 1990. After his retirement, John served in various capacities as a volunteer at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ontario.
John is survived by his wife Bernice (Bea) of Rancho Cucamonga and his sister Donna Larson of Sun City West, AZ and he will be interred at Riverside National Cemetery.
