

September 26, 1929 - Jurc23,2015. John Tundis was born in Detroit, Michigan, the
younger son of Domenico and Assunta Tundis. In 1950, he met the love of his life,
Frances Maiorano. Their marriage of nearly 65 years included 3 children, Debora
Carpenter (Arthur), Mark Tundis (Eugenia) and Patricia Spindler (Michael). He is also
survived by his 3 grandchildren, Rebecca Carpenter, his namesake John Tundis (Tina)
and Lisa Lester (Alex), his 3 great-grandchildren, Christine Carpenter, Siena Tundis and
Arianna Lester, and his older brother, Frank Tundis and sister in-law Rose Tundis, as well
as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Domenico and
Assunta. In 1957, he moved his family along with his parents and his brother's family, to
Southern California where in 1960, he and his brother Frank opened and successfully
operated for more than 30 years, Upland Printing Co. John loved spending time with his
family, and in his younger days, enjoyed thoroughbred horse racing. If you wanted to find
John on December 26 of any given year, you would need to go to Santa Anita Racetrack
in Arcadia where you would find him and his older brother Frank enjoying opening day.
His family, his work ethic and his commitment to his friends, were the cornerstones of
John's life. He will be greatly missed by all his friends and family.
Rosary/Viewing: 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2015, Saint Anthony's Catholic Church, Upland, California with
Funeral Mass to immediately follow. ln lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be
made to The City of Hope, Duarte, California.
