Jose was born on November 17, 1952 in São Miguel, Azores, Portugal to Luis & Sarah Farias. He came to Boston, MA in 1969 and found his forever home in Chino, CA in 1976. He married Frances Viveiros in 1979.
After moving to Chino, CA he began working for L&L Nursery Supply as a truck driver. Over the next seven years, the couple welcomed four children into their home. Jose found a career on the Dairies and was a Dairyman for over 20 years working for Vandermeer Dairy and then Collinsworth Dairy. He also worked with Chino Valley USD for a few years.
Jose was a great provider for his family and always was just a phone call away for his grandchildren. He will be forever known for picking up a hammer and breaking/building many walls throughout the Portuguese community. In his retirement years he enjoyed working with his boys, Joseph and James who both took to the classic car hobby/car audio career. Jose loved music and was a classic car enthusiast so the fact that his boys took on this passion was something that he took great pride in.
Papa Joe was loved by many, he was always willing to help others. He will be missed by many and will forever be remembered for his weather reports, humming and whistling wherever he went.
A memorial service is scheduled on June 27th, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Draper Mortuary.
