

Having come from a large family Jose Luis was child #5 of ten, his siblings are Madgalena, Leticia, Francisco, Eloy, Manuel, Anastacio, Gerardo, Maria, and Juan.
Jose Luis lived in Durango and Ciudad Juarez Chihuhua for first part of his younger years and attended elementary school at “La Revolucion Elementaria” in Mexico. He also attended “Escuela Ignacio Allende,” in Mexico where he studied accounting.
In the 1970’s Jose Luis developed an interest in boxing. His boxing career lasted for seven years. Keeping an amazing amateur record of 197 wins and only three losses, he was popularly known as “Jose Luis el surdo.”
In 1977 he immigrated to the USA, making his home in the City of El Monte.
Jose Luis developed a career in carpentry and welding in the 1980's. Jose Luis took many people under his wing and assisted in developing their trade. As a fellow worker, and a foreman, he touched the lives of his peers. Jose Luis was a very loyal, dedicated, hard worker. His last job was with K and Z cabinets from 2006 to November 2020, where he only called off twice during his tenure.
1985 he met his wife Maria Rosaria Gonzalez and started a family, becoming a father for the first time to his first daughter Diane Ruiz in 1987. For the next 19 years Maria and Jose Luis became parents to four other children: Daisy, Jose Luis, Jr., Jocelyn, and Angel.
1990’s Jose Luis played soccer in the Pomona Soccer league. He was recognized on multiple occasions as an outstanding goalkeeper, contributing to city-wide championships.
Jose Luis was a loving grandfather to Fabian Alejandro, Nataly, Edgar, Isaac, Valeria, Jackie, and Oscar.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
