Joseph was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico and was raised in Cucamonga, Ca. He grew up playing the guitar and could be found playing and singing Mexican music at family gatherings along with his mother, his brothers, and his sisters.
Joseph loved baseball and in his young adult life spent the majority of his Sundays at the Upland Memorial Baseball Park where he managed the Upland Angels Semi-Pro baseball team. In his later years, his love and knowledge of baseball gave him the opportunity to contribute to a couple of books written on the topic of “Mexican American Baseball” that he was proud to be a part of.
Joseph retired from the Claremont Unified District where he worked as a groundskeeper.
He loved traveling with his wife Olivia to Palm Springs, San Diego, Laughlin, and Las Vegas. In his later years, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and with his great-grandchildren, who he adored.
Those who knew him best would say that he was a kind and gentle man who always saw the best in people.
We will miss him greatly and we'll long for the day when we are reunited with him in heaven.
Draper Mortuary extends our deepest condolences to the Romero family, friends, and to all who knew him during this difficult time. Joseph will be greatly and truly missed.
