Margarita was born August 28, 1951, in El Paso, TX. She was the second of eight children born to Margarita Onsurez and Edmundo Sanchez. In 1957 her family moved to California growing up in communities within Los Angeles and Ontario.
In about 1980, Margarita began her career as a pre-school teacher working at Head Start Pre-school in Ontario, CA. Her passion led her to help mold and positively influence children at a young age for 33 years. In addition, she catered events and parties with her sister Gracie, baked and decorated cakes, and could fix just about anything in her home herself.
Family was everything to her. In her words, “my family is my lifeline.” She continually gave herself and time to make everyone feel special. Younger kids often felt that she was their own mother or grandmother because of the things she did for them all. Margarita was known for her cooking and warm hospitality. She never turned down an opportunity to feed anyone that stepped into her home and could whip up a meal using just about anything that she had on hand. Her specialty, as many family members and friends know, was her fresh homemade tortillas.
Her love for her family ran deep and she strived to bring everyone together, always.
