Mario Ernesto Gonzalez, 66, of Ontario, CA, passed away on January 9th 2026 surrounded by loved ones. He was Born on May 4,1959 in Jalisco, Mexico. Mario Survived by his wife Diane, Son, Garett, daughter, Breanna, and granddaughters, Sophie and Gianna, along with his mother Lidia, sister Martha, and brothers Sergio, Isidoro and Cesar who will forever cherish his memory.
Mario was a devoted husband for 36 years who absolutely adored his wife, and a loving father, son, brother, uncle, and friend who brought joy and laughter to everyone around him. He was a true provider for his family, showing hard work, commitment, and unwavering dedication in everything he did.
Mario was as selfless as they come; if you asked him for a favor, he was there—whether it meant fixing cars, helping someone move, cleaning out sheds, putting up Christmas trees, or tackling a backyard cleanup. You asked, and his answer was always yes. He loved his children and stayed actively involved in their lives; when they were young, you could find him coaching soccer or baseball, attending father–daughter dances, or teaching Garett how to golf. Mario was like another father to many of his children’s friends, loving them and supporting them in countless ways. He was always encouraging them to work hard, be successful, and, above all, to be good people, usually with plenty of laughter along the way.
He was endlessly helpful, whether it meant fixing their cars, offering a listening ear, or sharing honest, thoughtful advice. To those who knew him, he was not only a dad, but a mentor, a helper, and a steady, caring presence they could always count on.
His greatest joy in sports was coaching Garett in baseball and Breanna in softball, because he truly loved the game. That love grew even deeper when he had the chance to teach his granddaughter Sophie how to catch and hit the ball, creating memories that meant the world to him. A Dodgers fan through and through, Mario was overjoyed to see his beloved team win the 2025 World Series.
Mario’s other great love was golf. Every Sunday you could find him on the course, whether he was playing alone, with his son, or alongside his brothers. He learned the game from his beloved father-in-law, Mayo, whose lessons and companionship on the course meant the world to him. Besides spending Sundays on the golf course, he always made it home in time to watch the Packers play. He had a true love for the Green Bay Packers and cheered them on with unwavering pride.
Mario's recent joy was being Papa to his girls Sophie and Gianna. He loved taking Sophie to school and picking her up. Or taking Gianna to the park. He was always willing to play with dolls, play tea party or be buried by stuffed animals. He loved them so much and enjoyed every moment with them.
Mario loved to dance and could quickly become the life of any party. Depending on the night, you might even find yourself in an unforgettable dance battle with him. If you asked how he met Diane, he would say it was his “sexy dance moves” that won her heart. They both loved to dance and were often the last two people left on the dance floor, savoring every song together.
Mario will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know and love him. His laughter, kindness, and joyful spirit will live on in the memories he leaves behind and in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
A funeral service will be held on January 28th, 2026 at 10am at St. Josephs Church with an inurnment to follow at Bellevue Memorial Park at Bellevue Mausoleum. The family kindly requests that no flowers be sent to the services; your presence, prayers, and memories of Mario are deeply appreciated.
