Our incredible and special brother Michael J Decoteau 57, of Upland, CA passed surrounded by love March 1, 2024. Michael joins his parents' embrace and that of his creator in eternal life. His easy-going smile; his laugh and his love for both his family and the Salem Christian Home community, will be cherished and warmly remembered. Mike was not very verbal, yet his impact of love was felt by everyone who came in contact with him.
Michael was the youngest child of Frank and Dona Decoteau. His siblings; Greg Decoteau, Mary Pat Decoteau, Jon Decoteau, and Linda Molinari along with their families learned patience, love and acceptance through Mike’s example and easy-going nature. Mike’s extended family of 30 plus years at Salem Christian Homes provided him love, care and a place where he and his housemates could laugh, live and thrive in life. Our family is eternally grateful to the Salem Community.
Michael loved hanging out with his friends and going on special outings with his housemates. He was an active client of OPARC, a Special Olympics athlete, and loved the Salem formal dances, Christmas parties and social gatherings. At home, he was known to have a great sense of humor and his deep belly laugh was contagious! He was a BIG Disney and Michael Jackson fan. He was known to give; fist bumps to strangers, double kisses to the cheeks of people he knew, and kissed the hands of ladies he did not, European style. If you received one you were very special, as was Michael.
