"It is hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember".
Mitch peacefully passed away on April 17, 2017 with cancer in our childhood home in Rancho Cucamonga, California by our mother's side.
Mitch entered this world on July 14, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the only son born to Norman Jed and Cora Mitchell. It was his lucky evening when he met my mother, Diana Joyce, at a Disco Tech in the San Fernando Valley. They were married on April 20, 1968 in Canoga Park, California. He supported, respected and loved his wife unconditionally, with whom they had three children: Tracy, Nicole and Joshua (deceased). He had two children from a previous marriage, Laura and Mark (deceased). He was a devoted and loving father to his children.
My father would be in complete agreement that the wisest decision he ever made in his life was choosing my mother to spend the rest of his life with. She held him in place and he took her on a beautiful journey.
Although he has gone, his spirit will live on in each of his grandchildren: Bella, Noah and Madeline. Papa would say to each one of you that he is near, even if he doesn't see you. You are with me, even if you are far away. You are in my heart, in my thoughts, and in my life always.
Mitch is survived by his son-in-laws Doug and Chris who admired his frugalness and his "Mitchellism's".
He bought his first Ready Mix Truck in 1976, the year that Josh was born. For 36 years, he hauled Ready Mixed concrete and created his own company Mitchell and Son.
Mitch had a true appreciation for the outdoors and loved to wake up early and go fishing. He enjoyed playing ping pong at the Senior Center. His love for the ocean took him on adventures in scuba diving and in his early years he was a member of the Golden Gloves.
He was a man of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ. When he passed away, he was greeted by Joshua with open arms. They immediately headed to the nearest fishing hole to catch "The Big One".
A Memorial Service will be held at Draper Memorial Chapel, 811 N. Mountain Avenue, Ontario, California 91762 on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 1:00 PM.
