It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Patrick Richard Proulx of Alta Loma, California. Patrick passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at just 43 years young after a very courageous battle with cancer.
Patrick was born in Boise, Idaho on July 3, 1981, and moved to California with his father, mother, and two sisters at the age of two. He lived in Alta Loma for the remainder of his life.
He had some learning disabilities, and although he could not read, with a little help he could write “Love, Pat” on family & friend’s birthday cards; and he could identify the names of almost any brand name department store, food chain, grocery store, etc., just by the logo. He had an amazing vocabulary - and boy did he love to talk!
Patrick loved spending time with his family, his dog Xena, and going out to dinner at the “restaurant of your choice” as he sweetly phrased it. He had quite a few favorites – like any All-American guy, cheeseburgers were always a hit, so were cheese quesadillas, and of course, who doesn’t love pasta. Mac and cheese (The Heights was his favorite), and CPK for the delicious Chicken Tequila Fettuccini. Patrick absolutely loved music & dancing. The house was always booming & blasting the sounds of the 80’s on the “big stereo” with Patrick proudly showing off his fancy footwork. Born in the USA, Annie Lennox/The Eurythmics, & Madonna, were some of his favorites. His favorite movies were “Home Alone” and “The Brave Little Toaster.” He loved watching westerns and classic car restoration shows. He particularly enjoyed spraying his family and pool party guests with one of his many garden hoses as they swam and jumped into the pool.
“Billy Bud” of the Cabbage Patch family was Patrick’s lifelong roommate and will be laid to rest with him. Patrick also had a constant companion in the form of an otoscope picture. He had one particular favorite that he would carry in his hand until it wore out, and then another would be printed or copied for him and the cycle continued. He also loved fire trucks and water heaters. The only thing Patrick ever wanted for Christmas and birthdays was a new pair of Levi’s. He received plenty of thoughtful gifts but tossed them all aside until he got to the one present that he truly wanted…Levi’s. His closet had too many Levi’s to count, the same for his Joe Boxer pajama pants.
Patrick brought so much love and joy to everyone he knew. He was a very happy guy who loved life and everyone in it. His birthday was July 3rd, so every year he got a fantastic fireworks show in celebration.
He will forever be in our hearts, and he will be missed every single day! Patrick is survived by his dad, Richard Proulx, his stepmom Jeannie Proulx aka “The Woman,” his mother, Paulette Pavlides, two sisters Amanda Poirier (Jon), and Brooke Barnes (Jeff), six nieces, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and his 96-year-old grandpa Raymond Proulx.
Visitation for Patrick will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM (chapel will open at 11 AM). Both visitation and Celebration of Life will be held at Draper Mortuary (chapel) 811 North Mountain Ave, Ontario, CA 91762. A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Bellevue Memorial Park, 1240 W G St, Ontario, CA 91762.
