Sharon Kay Nelson

SHARON (SAM) KAY NELSON, 72, of Ontario, California, passed away after her long battle with cancer on July 24, 2014 at her home. She was born on January 21, 1942 in Murphysboro, Illinois and lived in Ontario for 44 years. She worked as a dietician for 17 years at Pomona Valley and San Antonio Hospitals and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ontario.

Sharon was married to Jerry, her High School Sweetheart and her Soul Mate. Jerry was taken from her suddenly after 26 years of marriage. She never remarried. Now the Lord has taken her to be with him. Sam loved spending time with family and friends, going to Hollywood or a day at the beach, and flying back to Illinois every year to be with her high school girlfriends, the "Hell Cats".

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Dale Nelson and her parents, Gilbert and Eleanor Pfau Giffin. She is survived by her daughters, Lisa D. Crofts and Linda D. Shumpert, grandchildren, Morgan R. Crofts and Cree Lynn Brooke, and great-grandson, Holden W. Brooke.

Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Draper Mortuary Chapel, 811 N. Mountain Avenue, Ontario, California 91762. Burial will immediately follow at Bellevue Memorial Park, 1240 W. "G" Street, Ontario, California 91762. A reception will follow at Draper Mortuary Heritage Room. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to City of Hope or the VFW.

Our Mom, our Hero, our Best Friend. Though we are sad, we know you're okay. We know that today, you'll be forever with Dad.
