Born on November 8, 1957, Queenie was the beloved youngest child of Eddie and Rosie Rosas, both originally from Arizona. After raising a house full of boys, the arrival of a baby girl brought joy and delight to the family — and Queenie was cherished from the very start.
From an early age, Queenie showed her spirited nature. She preferred popping wheelies on her bike over playing with dolls and quickly earned a reputation for her fierce independence. Though petite, she was mighty — often befriending bigger girls who had her back, but always ready to stand up for what she believed in.
In 1980, Queenie became a mother with the birth of her first daughter, Alisha. Fate brought her to a Halloween party in 1984, where she met Ruben B. Sandoval. Their connection blossomed into love, and they were married on November 4, 1989. They built a life together in Ontario, California, and in 1992, welcomed their second daughter, Rachel — completing their loving family.
Queenie lived for her family. Her happiest moments were spent celebrating milestones — birthdays, graduations, weddings, and unforgettable family trips to Hawaii. In 2009, Alisha married Carlos Lequerica, and in 2017, Rachel married Wesley Lam — both events that brought Queenie immense joy.
After dedicating 27 years to the Bonita Unified School District in the Accounts Payable Department, Queenie retired early in 2010 to take on her favorite role yet: Nana. She lovingly cared for her first grandson, Diego, and was soon blessed with three more grandchildren — Rosie Lequerica, and Sophia and James Lam. Her grandchildren were the light of her life; each one lovingly referred to as her “babies.”
Queenie wore many titles throughout her life — daughter, sister, wife, mother, Nana, comadre, prima, and friend — and she filled each role with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Her presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
She is survived by her husband Ruben, her daughters Alisha (Carlos) and Rachel (Wesley), and her four grandchildren, Diego, Rosie, Sophia and James.
Her services will be held at:
