Gerald (Jerry) Lee Myers, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on May 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 7, 1946, Jerry's life was marked by his unwavering devotion to his family, his country, and his faith.
A disabled veteran, Jerry served his country with honor during the Vietnam War. His service and sacrifice were a testament to his strength and dedication.
A passionate union advocate, Jerry dedicated most of his career to serving in his local chapter. His tireless efforts to fight for fair treatment and give a voice to the voiceless were a testament to his deep sense of justice and compassion. Jerry’s colleagues and friends knew him as a steadfast and caring individual, always ready to stand up for what was right. His legacy of advocacy and solidarity has left an indelible mark on the community, reminding us all of the power of dedication and the importance of fighting for fairness.
Jerry was an incredibly devoted husband and a loving father. He was a kind-hearted friend and a devoted Christian man, whose faith guided him throughout his life. His gentle spirit, sense of humor and unwavering love made a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Jerry's presence and his profoundly meaningful words of wisdom and compassion will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, kindness, and faith will continue to inspire not only his family but also the community he leaves behind.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Garnett (Weese) Myers of Mansfield; son, Jamison Lee Myers of Mansfield; daughter, Aimee Marie (Alexander) Brown of Bellville; son, Steven Lee (Christine Hamilton) Myers of Lexington; eleven grandchildren, Carissa Brown, Hanna Brown, Jessica Brown, Haylee (Christopher) Vangeloff, Tyler Myers, Elizabeth Myers, Makayla Myers, Brittany Myers, Nicholas (Rachel) Myers, Ashley (John) Yoder and Emma Myers, seven great-grandchildren; his sisters, Jeannie Eaton of Roundup, Montana, and Sharon (Dale) Beall of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; his step-brothers, Harold (Patricia) Myers of Crestline and David Myers of Leesburg, Florida; and his step-sister, Janice (DeVere) Wilson of Sandusky, Ohio.
Jerry was preceded in death by his mother; Dorothy Idell (Kozik) Prosser, his father; Doyle Lee Myers, step-father, James Prosser; and his step-brother, Richard Myers.
A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at Wappner Funeral Directors - Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. from 5:00–7:00 PM on Friday, June 7, 2024 for family and friends to pay their respects.
The family will hold a private graveside service at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, where Jerry will receive full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pets for Vets (https://petsforvets.com/donate), reflecting Jerry's commitment to helping others and his love for dogs or The Visual Bucket List Foundation (https://thevblf.com), a 501(c)3 organization that grants wishes to children losing their vision, in honor of his granddaughter.
