Jeffrey Thomas Fields, Jr., 47, passed after a courageous battle with cancer on August 1, 2025, at OSU Wexner Hospital, Columbus. He was born in Mansfield on February 20, 1978, to Jeffrey Thomas Fields, Sr. and Barbara (Fields) Sweet.
He was a self-employed carpenter. Jeffrey was a people person, always doing something for someone else. He was quick witted and loved his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and loved his walkabouts. He loved nature and nature loved him. Jeffrey was flat out ornery and always wanted everyone to be together for everything. He would do anything for anybody in return that they will do the same for him and continue to do so.
He is survived by his parents, Jeffrey Thomas Fields, Sr. and Barbara (Doug) Sweet; fiancé Melanie Bowman; children, Michael Thompson, Raynn Fields, Hunter (Isabella) Fields, and Noah Fields; siblings Megan Fields, Brandy (Tim) Stahle, Melody (Leonard) Parks, Jeremiah (Jamie) Fields, Meghan (Jim) Mason, and Destiny (Andrew) Knee; mother-in-law Peggy Thompson and grandmother-in-law Velma Gilmore numerous nieces and nephews; family and friends; and his best friends who stood by him and his family.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Delva Littleton, Dardnell (Howard) Kochheiser; and paternal grandparents, Henry and Julia Fields; father-in-law Bob Thompson; grandfather-in-law, Vernon Gilmore; grandmother-in-law Mable Thompson, granddaughter Scarlett Fields, grandson, Arthur Fields, stepmother, Fran Fields.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Rd., Ontario, OH 44906 on Friday August 8, 2025, from 1:00PM to 3:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 3:00PM, officiated by Pastor Lester Vnasdale and Pastor Patrick Bailey.
