Dear Brenda and family, so sorry to hear about Jon‘s passing. We remember all the great times in BA together and have enjoyed receiving your annual updates. There is nothing we can imagine will replace his presence among you but maybe you can find some comfort in the fact that he has had an incredible impact on the world around him not only at home but in business and wherever he came into contact with people, so those impacts and memories will be with all those he touched and hence he does live on in spirit. We felt this quote was a perfect fit for Uncle Jon, as it's one of the things we will distinctly remember about him - his thoughtful interactions that seemed to be spawned by a genuine curiosity.  We can imagine that those same interpersonal skills that we experienced were the same ones that made him a luminary in his professional life.  
His inquisitive nature was fueled by a generous heart.  It seemed like his life bucket would be filled every time that he did something nice for you.  We have great memories of Jon interacting with our family in very special and specific ways.  Whether it was catering to our then 3 year old son, Vince, and his fascination with tractors by giving him the grand experience of riding the John Deere, or by spending time swimming or chatting with our daughters by the pool.  All of his interactions felt sincere and loving.  At a very high level, Jon did a masterful job of modeling empathy and relationship building for all of his family and friends.  We will miss him and send our love to the entire Holcomb Family.  - The Van Almen's

Dear family, my condolences come from far away- Tehran, 
You may neither know or ever met me. But may be from Jon‘s business career you remember him talking about a project we worked on together by the name of CARMEN. He represented Chrysler and I Daimler Benz. It was the start of the merger. From then on we worked together in overseas Markets  from Stuttgart.
Where have these good old days gone but fantastic memories- in business and friendship remain.

I am very sorry to hear of this great loss to all who knew Jon and will be thinking of you and of him, as you mark the passing of his life from this world. A man of great good humour and kindness, he remains a wonderful exemplar of how ambition and drive, conditioned by an innate gentleness and empathy, kindled an indelible respect and affection amongst those, like me, whose lives he touched. God bless you and keep you all, especially on this day. 

I reconnected with Jon at a Chuck E. Cheese and then again at Detroit Metro Airport in the early 90s. It was great to see him after all those years since we left Ohio Wesleyan.
Jon was running international sales for Chrysler at the time and I was the new editor of Automotive News. In putting together the roster of speakers for the big Automotive News World Congress, I asked Jon if he would speak about “the rest of the world,” not counting Europe and Japan.
Over his  Christmas holiday, Jon went to work and put together a brilliant, market-by-market presentation that was one of the best we ever had. He was a great speaker and he had fabulous content.
I owed him big-time. I’ll miss him.

We are thankful for the special time we were able to spend with you and Jon in Gambier. From car talk to learning about log cabins and tractors, Jon's wit and wisdom were enchanting.

Brenda and Holcomb family,

Jon was a wonderful man, who will be truly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. 
Our kids were involved in Boy Scouts, swim team and soccer. We spent many wonderful years enjoying their activities together.

Dear Brenda and dear members of the Holcomb family!

Yesterday we learned from our daughter Karolin, who is a friend of Ashley's on Facebook, about the sad death of Jon, a colleague and friend who was always valued and respected and whom we learned to appreciate as  a warm-hearted and empathetic person during his "Mercedes time" in Germany. 
Sadly we won't be able to meet again in Gambier as we had planned, but we will carry Jon in our thoughts and hearts. 

He will never be forgotten!
