On Friday, July 26, 2024, Joseph Edward Farrell passed away at the age of 75 following a protracted battle with infection and esophageal cancer. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1948 he was the son of Joseph and Catherine Farrell.
Joe moved to the Mansfield area as a child where he lived the remainder of his life. Joe retired from a career in education as a Guidance Counselor where he helped countless students at Pioneer Career & Technology Center. He spent the majority of his free time on his family horse farm. When he wasn’t outside, Joe was likely engrossed in rooting for his favorite Ohio based collegiate and professional sports teams.
Joe is survived by his wife, Marsha Freiheit Farrell; son, Patrick; as well as an extended family and group of caring friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; an aunt and uncle who raised him; and his mother-in-law.
He was known as a wise and kind soul who will be missed by those fortunate enough to have shared time with him.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held on the anniversary of his birthday Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Deer Ridge Golf Club’s Black Dog Tavern from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Richland County.
