Loraine (Lori) was born October 28,1940, to the late Clyde and Alta Mae (Spears) Cheek of Tomahawk, Kentucky. Lori (Toots) was the oldest of the "Cheating Cheek" siblings; Roy, Troy, Joyce, Chris, and Donald, whom she treasured along with their spouses.
Lori courageously fought the COPD battle for 23 years.
Praying, trusting, and believing in the promises of God and the Great Physician, Lori stood victorious in the battle of colon cancer. Writing her story of Gods amazing grace and mercy.
On October 25, 1969, Wilmer E. (Bud) Glass and Lori joined forces. Bud and Lori have 5 children; Doug (Kathy) Auflick of Bellville, Ohio, Kim McKinney Mansfield, Ohio, Twyla (Dirk) DeVito Shelby, Ohio, Chris Glass Shelby, Ohio, Andrea “Andie” Glass. Love for each child, grandchild, great grandchild, and great-great grandchild ran deep. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed each visit and conversation that brought the priceless memories. When Bud and Lori married, Lori didn't gain in-laws or outlaws, she gained brothers and sisters. Bonds between each of Bud's siblings ran deep.
Known for immaculate housekeeping, friends and family would often tease Lori about the "white glove test" and call her Martha Stewart.
In 2001, Bud and Lori decided to see what retirement life would be like. So, they packed their bags and bought a home in Auburndale, Florida.
If you are going to buy a home on a golf course, you might as well learn to golf. So, her and Bud did. They bought the clubs, the shoes, gloves and off they went. Though chasing a little white ball isn’t for everyone, they gave it a shot. She enjoyed the stories the family would share as golf became a sport several members enjoy...most of the time.
Always having an artistic side. While living in Florida, she decided to enhance this talent. Lori developed a love and a passion for oil painting. Bob Ross would put a little tree here, Lori would put flowers.
Lori was a faithful member of the Shelby First Free Will Baptist Church pastored by Matthew Pond and Assistant Pastor Adam Brown. Although her health did not allow her to attend services in person, she would attend via livestream.
Along the journey, God blessed Lori with priceless friendships; Brenda Brown and Val Heydinger, whom she met while attending The Shelby First Free Will Baptist Church; Jeanette R. Joyce Moon whom she met while living in Florida.
Today we Celebrate the life.
Never forget how much Jesus Loves you!
Everyone faces battles or challenges each and every day. It is how we respond that determines the outcome. You can choose to lay down and give up or press in with perseverance and determination to never stop and never give in. This act of will landed her the nickname “Wonder Woman”. She fought a long hard battle.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Marion Demers for her care throughout Lori’s battle.
