Martin was born September 28, 1955, in Mansfield, Ohio, one of four sons of the late Donald and Joan Helen (Teeter) Boyce. He graduated from Ontario High School in 1974 and lived in the Mansfield area most of his life. Martin and his brothers were close in age and their mom made separate meals for each of them as they had different tastes and ate at different times due to their schedules.
He married Karen Kline and they shared 44 years together. He retired as a tool and die maker from General Motors after 35 years of service. Martin was always tinkering with something and fixing things in his garage. He enjoyed yard work—and along with his neighbor, Dean, they had their “Old Farts Club” where they helped each other with their yard work. He volunteered as Fair Manager for 5 years at the Richland County Fair. Martin amassed a large amount of treasured cookbooks over the years.
Martin is survived by his wife, Karen Boyce; four children, Brandon (Jessica) Boyce, Travis Boyce, Dustin (Heather) Boyce and Kristi (Sam) Boyce; five grandchildren, Steven Bishop, Ben Royce, Jaden Boyce, Samantha Boyce and Augustus Foley; three brothers, Greg (Cheryl) Boyce, Randy Boyce and Bruce (Debbie) Boyce; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles and a sister-in-law, Dori Boyce.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2-4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Westwood Alliance Church 396 Willowood Drive E, Ontario, OH 44906.
