Brenda Kay Lance, 58, of Welaka, Florida, formerly of Peoria, Illinois, died July 14, 2012 at Putnam Community Medical Center in Palatka, Florida. She was born October 14, 1953 in Peoria, Illinois and was the daughter of Burlyene Shearer and Virgil B. Phillips. She married Gary Lance on December 9, 1972. Brenda was a retired cosmetologist who loved cooking, fishing and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Gary; one daughter, Holly Lance Strempel and her son-in-law, Richard Strempel; four granddaughters, Chadlynn Lance, Marina Rosado, Kristen and Kandace Strempel; Stepfather, Donal Shearer and several loving step-brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her mother, her son, Chadwick Lance and her brother, Virgil Phillips, Jr.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church, 1045 East Normandy Boulevard, Deltona, FL 32725. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the woundedwarriorproject.org, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300
