Carmella L. Gray

Candi always enjoyed family time. A nice family dinner with lots of desserts was a great way to have fun with her family and enjoy life. She liked playing bingo with her friends and loved going to Kohls, Bealls and the outlet malls to find treasures in the clearance jewelry. She volunteered for more than 11 years at the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home where her daughter Bonnie works. She was one of the “Wednesday Morning” volunteers who helped prepare mailings.

Her list of hobbies was long and varied: bowling on a duck pin league, sewing clothes for her friends, knitting and crocheting, making ceramics, helping raise baby beagle puppies whose mothers were killed,

taking cruises and cooking meals and desserts for her children’s friends when they were teens. Candi played the organ and liked watching old home movies of the family at Lake Anna, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 47 years Lawrence (Larry, Bud) Elwood Gray. She is survived by her children Bonnie Gray and her partner Don Balman and David Gray and his wife Theresa Elliott Gray; her grandchildren Mark Simms and his wife Tina Simms, Kerri Simms and her partner Wayne Rodriguez-Barros, Chris Schinner and his partner Kelsey Veloz and Candice Gray Walters and her husband Michael Walters; and her great grandchildren Mark Simms, Jr., Kendrick Robertson, Corey Robertson, Stephen Robertson, Jordan Rodriguez-Barros, Elizabeth Walters and Isabelle Walters.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Boulevard, Orange City, Florida 32763. The Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Entombment will be Sunday, August 21, 2016 at 1:00 pm in Mansion Memorial Park, 1400 36th Avenue East, Ellenton, Florida 34222.
