

Carmen was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on March 13, 1937 to parents Santiago Vargas and Monserrate Gonzalez.
Mami was predeceased by her eldest grandson, Paul Barreto.
Mami worked hard all her life, raising 6 kids by herself in Brooklyn in a home she paid for by herself (and early). Carmen was a passionate person and cared strongly for her family and friends.
Known as “Mami” to her kids and more, Carmen was survived by her 6 children and their spouses/partners; Vilma Leon (Angelo), Felix Rodriguez (Betsy), Rosemary Caddle (Billy), Hector “Papo” Colon (Jeannette), Julisa Rivera, and Ulysses “Piri” Rivera (Damaris).
Grandmami was also survived by 15 Grandkids; Adin, John “Jay”, Felix, Evan, Cristineh, Denicieh, Jake, Eric, Emily, Elias, Brandon, Matthew, Giovanni, Crystal, and Gavin.
Great-Grandmami was also survived by 15 Great-Grandchildren; Alize, Iliyanah, Kailahnii, Noah,
J. Isaiah, Jeniyah, Janine, Jasmine, Deliciyah, Jeralynn, Theodore, Felix “Orlandito”, Abygael, Liliana, and Leona.
Carmen was also survived by 5 of her 12 siblings.
A visitation for Carmen will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, FL 32763. A committal service will occur Sunday, October 23, 2022 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Deltona Memorial Gardens, 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, FL 32763. A funeral service will occur Sunday, October 23, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM, 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, FL 32763.
