Charles Edward Henshall, a long-time resident and small business owner in the DeBary community, passed away on Friday, the eighteenth of January. He was 81.
Born June 15, 1937, Charles was raised in Valley Stream, NY with his two sisters by his parents, Charles Frederick Henshall and Jessie Spitler. Charles began his career as a long-distance truck driver navigating 18-wheeler rigs and freightliners cross-country, rain or shine sleet or snow. His mastery of the open road and expertise maximizing delivery routes made Charles a sought-after driver by some of the biggest names in the trucking business.
After 36 years in the trucking space, Charles began a new chapter as a small business owner in Deltona. In 1992, Charles launched a full-service local and long-distance moving company serving DeLand, Orange City, Deltona, Sanford, Lake Mary and Orlando. Leveraging the combined strength of his truck driving experience and commitment to personalized, customer service, Charles provided residential and commercial moving services to businesses across the Central Florida area, including numerous assisted living facilities and continuing care retirement communities.
Another driving force in Charles’ life was his devotion to Temple Baptist Church in Deltona. Over the years, Charles played an important role in generating greater fellowship and engagement among members of his church family. Charles is survived by his sons, John and Jeff Henshall, and his daughters, Laurie McTague and Diane Henshall. He will also be remembered by his seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Charles is pre-deceased by the mother of his children, Lucy Henshall Tyree. A service celebrating the memory of Charles was held on Saturday, January 26that Temple Baptist Church in Deltona.
